Boothbay 04537
Phone : 207-633-4727 Fax : 207-633-4733
Since its beginnings in 1964 to its non-profit incorporation in 1981, the Village has experienced robust growth. The museum has thousands of artifacts, several historic structures and three-quarters of a mile of two-foot gauge track. Nowhere else in New England can you experience a steam train ride, historical village exhibits and an outstanding collection of over 60 antique vehicles in one museum. The Boothbay Railway Village offers the unique environment of a rural village, beautiful gardens, and a village green surrounded by historic structures such as the 1847 Town Hall or the 1923 Spruce Point Chapel.

The Village exhibits are fascinating and informative, evocative of our rich New England heritage. Situated on thirty acres and housed in 28 exhibit buildings, the large collection of exhibits includes all aspects of rural town life, consisting of various types of transportation to lessons taught in a one-room schoolhouse. A variety of special events bring history to life with demonstrations and activities making for a memorable experience.

Boothbay Region Historical Society
72 Oak Street, P.O. Box 272
Boothbay Harbor 04538
Phone : 207-633-0820
The Boothbay Region Historical Society is located at the 1874 Elizabeth F. Reed house and its grounds, Fullerton Park. Many of the furnishings in the museum in the building were Reed family heirlooms. The society has traditionally represented the three towns in the region: Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor, and Southport, though Southport is now ably represented by its own society. The museum displays local historical mementos and houses documentary collections. The society is governed by a board of trustees and has a part-time director and administrative assistant. It is supported by membership dues, book and map sales, and donations. Among the benefits of membership are newsletters and a reduction in the cost of purchases. We encourage people to consider membership in the society and join the effort to preserve the past.
