The Child Health Center was founded in 1977 by Dr. Whitney and Dr. Bauer, two pediatricians with a desire to serve young children with special needs and their families. Over the past 30 years, the Child Health Center has grown and now serves over 2000 children each year with our programming. Current programs include Specialized Pediatric Therapy Services which provide Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy and Special Education services for over 200 children and their families; Big Brothers Big Sisters which has provided more than 500 community and site-based matches in Androscoggin and Oxford counties since July 2009; Maine Families which provides prenatal and parenting education to young parents and parents of children with special needs. Our commitment to serving children and families has never wavered, or has our belief that each family can achieve ‘their goals in life’.
